Hari Raya Eve.. and I'm at work

It's hari raya eve, and i'm at work. I'm saving up my annual leaves for the upcoming vacation holiday in november. Of course, I am not in the mood to work, but, well, gotta do what I am paid to do.. Atleast 30% completion of work for today. Am going off early to do some preparation for Eid mubarak tomorrow. I'm thrilled but at the same time dont really feel up to it as my husband will be working from day one to the 5th day of eid mubarak. Its not the same celebrating this festive season without having your husband around, no doubt I have my beloved family by my side, but with my husband around, it'll be perfect for a family gathering. Anyway, i'm gonna make the best of it.
Today is the last day of Ramadhan. Yesterday, I cooked for break fast. Nasi dagang and gulai ikan. Well, together with my mom and siblings. It tasted okay, only a little sour for the gulai ikan. Too bad i forgot to snap pictures of my little "experiment", but will do next time.
Meals will be prepared for the Eid mubarak celebration. Its a tradition for our family to have rendang, nasi himpit, kuah kacang (peanut sauce), pulut and laksa, besides cookies and some munchies which we usually bought each year. We used to bake cookies for Hari Raya, but perhaps this year around, we'll skip that since we have enough cookies in stock now. Each one of us bought atleast two types of cookies. Its gonna be a very busy day at home today, so, I'm definitely going off early, as the big boss would (usually) let us clock out by noon everytime Hari Raya eve. Yeah, very considerate of him. Anyway....
So, with this, I would like to take this oppurtunity to wish all the Muslims around the world Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Maaf Zahir Batin. Drive safe for those heading back to hometown. See ya!

Durian, oh dear!

Konbawa... My second entry for today. The topic is durian. Yeah, its the king of fruits. Widely known for its stench smell, but it definitely tastes good, sweet and milky. It is the favourite of most Malaysians (some cant even stand the smell), when you burp, the whole room will smell like durian.
I am amazed of one foreigner who came to visit our lab recently. He eats durian like eating a donut. Everyday, for four days in a row, durian will be his appetizer, which is very brave of him to even eat it with that amount of durian. Subarashi! Clap! Clap! Clap!
I was in Japan about a year ago. None have i even see tropical fruits like the mangosteen, durian or even sugarcane being sold at the supermarket. One fine day, in Shinjuku, while strolling down the shopping heaven, was I surprised to see a durian sold at 5000 yen each!!! Yes. 5000yen, which is equivalent to MYR195 each!!! Here in Malaysia, would only cost around RM15/kilo. I managed to capture the price sold in Shinjuku, Tokyo.
My sensei loves durian too. But the rest of lab members back in Niigata cant accept the smell and the after taste :) I dont blame them. It takes courage to chow it down your throat.

20th Ramadhan

It's 20th Ramadhan. Already. Time flies really fast. I cant wait for Eid Mubarak to arrive, but feels sad that Ramadhan is ending. I wanna make the best of this Holy month. No need to brag or boast for what deeds I did throughout the month, so I'm just gonna stop at that.
Yesterday I encountered diarrhea. Went to the clinic and the doctor prescribed some medications and advised me to break fast due to dehydration. But I was stubborn as I felt that I can managed to fast all day. Later at night, suddenly I was having gastritis attack. It prolonged until now, that I am still hesitating whether to break fast or not. Anyway...
Yesterday too, a cousin of my husband's passed away due to road accident. Apparently, the driver wanted to avoid the bus from collided, but unfortunately, they went off the cliff. Both driver and cousin died on the spot. Al-fatihah to both of them. May they rest in peace.

Pig skin lining shoe

It's ramadhan, Eid mubarak is just around the corner. Just like other Moslems in the world, I fast, refrain myself from eating, drinking, misbehavioral and talk crap. I tried my best to get the best Ramadhan ever, so that it is meaningful and balance myself between "duniawi & akhirat". I may not be the best role model for exemplary, but I hope to be as good as what required as a Moslem.
Anyway, since this is ramadhan, people are busy preapring for Eid mubarak, where people shop for new baju kurung, baju melayu, contemporary clothing, shoes etc. Yeah, same here, got my baju kurung ready (a bit disappoinment), hand bag (yeah, a handbag..long awaited handbag and finally got it!! Yaay!!) and shoes.
Today I am gonna talk about the shoes I bought online, on Facebook i'd rater say. They have quite a number of inetresting and pretty shoes on sale, i kinda fell for it at the beginning. Thinking that it is cheap and looking for Raya sandal, i bought one pretty red wedges heel sandal. Its RM68 including postage, allright!
So, the shoes arrived at my doorstep last Tuesday (9th Aug. 2011). Boy, was I excited to put it on, but the moment i open the shoe box, i knew that it was not wearable. The shoe is pig skin lining!! I know because i love to shop. Its got the traingle dots on the surface of the sole and inside! So, i messagd the seller asking her to check whether its pig skin lining or not, and guess what?? She got offended (she's a Malay) and sent an article for me to read. She denies it, but deep down I know that it is pig skin lining. She's not acepting me to ask for refund. and that is really bad.. anyway, semoga you dapat petunjuk, okay... So, i guess i'm gonna sell it to any non-muslim friends of mine.
Moral of the story: Never buy shoes online. Buy Clarks!! hahaha! Here are some pics for you to view as reference, so in future you wont b cheated like me, k! Selamat berpuasa!
